smart HELPS DRIVERS TO ‘GET LOST’
smart, the innovative automotive brand, has unveiled a smartphone app that invites drivers to take an adventurous and fun road trip in their smart and ‘get lost’.
The app uses location-based technology to pinpoint the driver’s location and suggest a randomly generated place of interest for them to visit. The user is able to set the travel distance and then receives step-by-step directions to the destination via GPS. Destinations are randomly delivered using the local business search engine Yelp and range from Leeds Castle to a cupcake Museum.
The user can set different modes. In ‘extreme’ mode the driver won’t know where they are going until they arrive, but there is also a more cautious ‘moderate’ mode which offers drivers five different places to chose from. The app also encourages users to share their adventure with their friends via Facebook and on smart’s UK Facebook page – facebook.com/smartcarUK.
David George, Marketing Director, Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars said: “We know smart owners enjoy spontaneity and the ‘get lost’ app will encourage this by giving them the chance to enjoy a truly impulsive experience in their car. We hope many smart drivers will ‘get lost’ in an exciting smart adventure.”
The smart ‘get lost’ app is available on iPhone and Android devices and has been created by creative brand participation agency Weapon7.
Daniel Bowers at Weapon7, said: “smart owners are free-spirited, unencumbered and more likely to set off on an impromptu adventure. The ‘get lost’ app is a way to bring the adventurous and independent spirit of smart to life for loyal and prospective smart owners.”
The ‘get lost’ app is available free now through the Apple App store and Android marketplace, to all smart fans.
